Banat SC 98 Girls won the U15 Arizona State Championship in May defeating Gilbert Arsenal 2-0 on goals by Olivia Hernandez and Danny Fonseca. The team won all 4 matches scoring 19 goals and recording all 4 matches as shutouts. The win is the first girls State Cup win for the club, and notably is the first girls State Cup win for a west valley team in decades. The Banat 98s are coached by the club's DoC Alan Watson, assisted by James Jones and managed by Michelle Youngs. The team will now be headed to Regionals in Hawaii!
Banat SC 96 girls, a perennial powerhouse in their age group, finished State Cup by winning the U17 3rd place match vs. Sereno South 3-1 on a hat trick by Anna Goebel. The team, which has placed in the top four every year, is coached by Alan Watson and Jon Ruzan and is managed by Ryan Goebel. The team will now be headed to Houston for the Texas Shootout College Showcase.
Banat's 97Gs, 99Gs and 96Bs also competed admirably in State Cup and we applaud there efforts, as well as all of those that represented the club so admirably in the President's Cup, Vini Cruz's 99Bs, Mark Leicester's 99/00Bs and Paul Winterich's 95Bs.
